Chew on this Book!
Eating Epiphanies for Food Mastery - A food lover's guide.

“Eating freedom comes from awareness of the transition of food from the world outside my body to that inside it. Emotional freedom comes from clarity as to what nurtures me. With clarity I can find a way to love food, laugh more, and lose weight.”

–Alan’s insight

This  book describes a path to easy weight loss through awareness and conscious eating. You can change your relationship with food. You can have increased satisfaction and increased joy.You can get decreased indigestion and a trimmer waistline. Start your journey Below:

Realization Steps

  • Food is Abundant: Regardless of the situation faced by my parents or grandparents, today in America food is ubiquitous. Getting enough is not an issue; getting too much is.
  • Humans are Social Animals: We live as part of a group; first family, then society. Everything that defines us is about relationships.
  • The Food Relationship is Primal: From the first taste of mother’s milk, eating is tied to survival. It is associated with safety and comfort on one hand and with fear and scarcity on the other.
  • Food Fills a Void: As part of the journey to adulthood, many of us may have confused food satisfaction with emotional satisfaction, nourishment with nurturing.
  • Food Awareness can Precipitate Change: With understanding and compassion we can master the food relationship. Fear turns to awe and lighter joyous eating leads to longer joyous living.

Practice Steps

My goal is to master my relationship with food. Each morsel that I take into my mouth grants me a moment to be fully present and conscious of what I am doing. If I choose, I can have a transcendent, aha, moment, with each chew.

My practice is to stay awake; staying focused on my edge, on the boundary of my perception. This means feeling comfortable is a warning sign. It is an ally. It is an internal friend that reminds me when I need to refocus and wake up. I need to practice vigilance when involved with food and stay in the here-now Zen of eating. My focus transforms feeling comfortable into feeling thrilled.
